With TTT in less than 6 weeks, training is peaking.

I have been lucky to have incredible runs over the last few months all over the world, in Vancouver, Everett, San Diego County, Rennes, Nîmes, ... The good thing about those runs - being particularly long .... 3, 4 hours - Did I hit 6 hours on this crazy bear trail in Canada ? - is that give me a lot of time to enjoy the outdoors and discover the region.

But now, I am working on my meditative running and double runs. 3 loops Saturday - 4 hours - 2 Loops Sunday morning 2:30. Double runs allow to train on tired legs, but limit the risk of injury. more info here. Coach Chris Hauth is a firm believer in those, so I am :)
This is roughly a 30 miler ultra run - 50km. Just a bit longer than a marathon.
Not that impressive, except when you consider the conditions and the elevation.
This ain't your typical road race.

3 times up, and 3 times down. 6000 feet of elevation

This is considered a 'hard' race. Well. It is part of the H.U.R.T series after all.

I have zero idea of what to expect, but assuming I could do the Makawao Forest 5x at 1:30 per lap, that would be roughly 7:30 of running for the same elevation.

It seems they have time cut-off at 9h and the best runners did it in roughly 4:30.

That is unreasonable.

The good news is that if I like it and finish it in time, this acts as a qualifier for the HURT 50 in October.

Steady volume over the last 6 months

The good news is I have been able to maintain a great volume of running those last 6 months, close from the max volume before a marathon (30h/ week). Nowadays I am averaging 5 running days at 1h+ and the long run at 3h, for a total of 8-10h of running a week.
That's a lot.
Steadily I saw over the last few years my zone 2 cruising speed going from 10:15 to the mile down to 8:50. This is one of the surprising effect of zone 2 training, relentless training in easy zone with high volume make you stronger and faster overall, assuming one day of hills or speed / week.

Every morning I am doing 20 minutes of strengthening and a full session at the gym a week when not travelling as well. This seems to pay. Today, for the first time of my life, I climbed the rope up to the top.
I guess I am not too far from my top shape.
But will that be enough for the TTT or will this race - my first ultra - kick my ass ?
I still have 3 months to train.
Which looks like a lot and lot of more miles....
First, let's do a body check.
Left Achilles have been quiet for a while now, but started to act a bit those last few weeks. maybe 2 on the scale of pain - nothing that stops you - but when you know how annoying this injury can be, you think about it.
Inside right knee has been better and better. Still can feel it after long runs, but overall, under control.
Right hip has been improving over the last few years - but this one will be by forever friend it seems. I have been working on strength relatively regularly - once a week - not as much as I would like - but let's be honest, strength training is super boring - compared to kiting, surfing or running in circles in the forest.
As training goes, I recovered pretty well from the Maui marathon and managed to maintain a good volume of more of 6 hours of running per week, usually on a 4 runs a week. Trying to go to an average a 5 days a week, but the volume is coming. The highest point - 8h /week - in September was pre-marathon, i.e. peak training. You don't want to maintain this all year round - at least, not yet.
Base is building, mostly on zone 2, and I was curious about how the body will respond. Weight have been pretty stable at 154lbs - 70kg and pacing seems to follow.
Average pace on a zone 2 test :
January 5th: 9 min/ mile
November 6th : 9:30 / mile
September 6th : 9 min/ mile.
December 6th : 10 min/mile.

Looks like I came back to my fitness level from before the marathon.
And one minute faster than one year ago at same level of effort.

Time for new goals then. I played with the idea of another marathon - maybe a cooler - and faster - one, like L.A. But I really love trails.
I know Maui Run Co. is likely to organize again the Makawao Forest 50k this summer - likely a 6:30 effort at best. Now we are talking.
H.U.R.T (Hawaii Ultra Running Team) is organizing end of summer the TTT 30. Roughly 50km and certainly 7h+ hours to complete.
The nice thing about trail running is that even if the distance is not way out compared to a marathon, the simple fact that you are on trails, usually on a mountain and get some elevation, it takes waaaay longer to finish and it is waaaay harder.

Talking about running, the last marathon (Maui Marathon 2018), 4:08 was not a bad one. With the heat and an unlucky 4 minutes bathroom stop, I was hoping a PR.

Looking at the stats, I started way faster than usual, around 8:30 pacing, assuming I could sustain that. maybe not quite at that level yet, even if the training was overall consistent, dropping 15 minutes after 3 years was a bit presumptuous. The main difference was the decision or inability to go deep into the pain cave. When I hit the wall around 2:30, I did not force it, decided to walk to lower my heart rate and took a huge hit on the pace. I kept it below 170 and perceived effort in the "acceptable" range. It was pretty hard anyway, and I promised myself to not do it ever again.

Never again.

Of course, ten minutes after the race, I was already thinking about the L.A. Marathon next year.

There are quite other few things that are occupying my thoughts and I still need to lay down the 5+ year plan - we are on a hard highschool timeline - , but one thing is for certain, my running days are not over.
I am eluding adding to my bucket list one of the top 100 miler in the world. Ultra Trail Mont Blanc, Leadville 100, Western States ...
But to even have a chance to go on the lottery for those, you need already a 50 miler and at least 100km in the bag.
As we do not get any younger, a good target for 2019 would be to get the 50 in the bag.
And certainly the LA Marathon as a warmup in April.
Definitively will need a bit of luck to keep this annoying right knee pain out of the way, but if I was able to train for 4 months with it, why not 6 ? or 12 ?
Lot of foam roller, strechting watching TV helps for sure... It just looks like that you whole life circle around running.
You work standing up (to train).
You run the dog, not walk it (to train).
You exercice (to cross train), not really because you like it (does someone do?).
You eat healthy (to be light)(well because it is better for you too).
You don't go out (because you need sleep .. to train more. Is there anyway much to do on Maui at night?)
And to wrap that up, a bit of meditation every day (just because).

Starts in less than 20 hours, 5AM tomorrow...
Targeted time : 3:50, for a 8:45min/mile pace, and a potential PR (my best is just below 4h).
But...
I promised myself to not force it (too much) and not hurt myself (too much) and keep extraordinary focus on my form (just have to do it).
Well, at least, there is a plan.

I realized it has been a while since my last marathon , Honolulu 2015. 3 years !

Time flies. Certainly injuries did not help, still.

What is weird now, is that I am running faster than before.

Like the good wine, get's better with age....

Now it is time to see if this training block was better ... I was up running 33 hours in September, between 5 and 8 hours a week.

I chosen to train on time this time, instead of mileage, as I focused mostly on trails, and pacing is definitively way slower. That should still cover some sort of 30-50 miles per week, which is pretty decent for a marathon training block, I believe.

The weather is not cooperating - although lack of sun will be very helpful in the last hour of the race, when usually it gets really hot and everyone overheat. With a bit of luck, we should get overcast and run in between the rainfall - the ideal scenario.
Maui marathon is 2 weeks away and it is time to start the taper. Volume gonna go down, lots of swimming in perspective.

I do have a plan - keep it easy - then it will be up to Race day to tell me if I will PR or not. Likely not, I am considering the LA marathon early next year to actually try a PR.

Hawaii is definitively too hot for this competitive spirit.

Even if the marathon starts at 5:00 AM !

Another hit from Rich few weeks back, about how Irish twins are making a change and reach for happiness.

Unsurprisingly, key for happiness resolve around few core concepts, health, food, movement, community, mission...
I bring it down myself to a duality - Body and Mind, Health and Purpose.
Being healthy impose eating healthy, moving a lot and be close from nature.
Purpose give you a healthy mind. You need mindfulness to achieve this purpose, it give you focus and the sense of belonging.

Of course, you cannot dissociate body and mind, and I believe you need both health and purpose to reach happiness. Purpose do not have to be this grandiloquent goal of saving the world. A small step in the right direction, could create momentum and the steps could be bigger and bigger.

I am glad with Imbellus I did a small step in the right direction. Some initiatives like 80000 hours give a good taste of what could happen.
Change will not come from politics - the democratic process is failing us. From Yuval or Nicolas Hulot, proof if around you, specially on Twitter.
Milleniums are the key.
Grassroots.
Bottom up.

Hopefully, this will come soon enough.

Training looking good. Knee pain is mostly gone and under control over the longest runs.
The last one, 3 loops of the Makawao forest, add up to almost 4 hours. Which is awful close from the peak of the marathon training in one month.
Weekly hours add up to 7-8 hours a week, around 40-45 miles.
This is start to sound like serious running.

Trail,

Last time I ran 3 laps of the forest trail, I was actually pretty slower - almost 30 minutes slower, really. And I still remember it being quite painful.
Add to that, I did a test run 5k, pretty intense. Less than 22 minutes, actually a PR. this help to run the numbers through equivalence table and measure progress as well as anticipate pace for the marathon.
My aerobic pace went down to a 8:30min/mile, which should be my running marathon pace, i.e. 30s faster than last one and could bring a 25min cut in racing time.
Likely, I will keep it easier than that, I have other plans for this marathon, but that certainly means that will be more comfortable to be under 4 hours this time.
Anyway, the main point is : all the numbers looks pretty good so far.

Aid station,

The nice thing about the Makawao loops is to be able to stop by the car and make a pit-stop every 75 minutes. Coconut water, salt crackers and dried mango slices. I used to go for coconut water as electrolyte drink during the run, but it ends up to be too sugary for the long long runs. Plus, it is lacking sodium, and I blame it for post run headache - maybe electrolyte imbalance. Following Chris Hauth advice, eat solid and drink water - avoid high sugary sport drinks or - coconut water.
On the menu for this weekend long run, an all time favorite I did 3 years ago.
Pretty technical - across a Lava field - this is definitively a half-walk and half-run thing.
Took me around 3:20 for barely 12 miles.
2 months since the last post ... Could do better.
But, on the running front, things did not get worst, then they certainly got better,
as I am steadily increasing the volume to a decent 30 miles/week.
More important, my last recurrent pain, inside of the right knee is kept in check.
Still there, but not aggravating.
Little less than 2 months before the Maui marathon, things are looking good.
Or, not that bad.

Dr Maffetone method, strict zone 2 policy seems to be working. My zone 2 pace went up from 11min-mile to 9min-mile and on some reference runs, like one loop Makawao Forest I could see a average heart rate down of 20 beats for the same time between 2018 and 2015.
Same speed, lower effort, after few months of training.
This is encouraging.

I defined some new goals for this marathon in October. Definitely not trying to make a PR, I do not set time expectations. I am shooting for perfect running form from start to finish, controlled heart rate - around threshold - aerobic, and no injury after the fact.
I see that one as a stepping stone for future adventures.

I am curious to know if I will be able to pace myself on D-Day.

Without really knowing how my body will respond to the training, I signed for a new marathon - The Maui Marathon (there are actually 3 marathons on Maui, but it seems that one got the name first) which runs in October.

I am still closely watching my left heel tendinitis, my right foot big toe, my right knee and my right hip flexors (is it all ?).

After months of physical therapy, strengthening, light running and listen to running centric podcast, it was time to try again.

Poli Poli, a all time favorite

I did made a major adjustment.
Or two.
Following the recipe of Dr Maffetone, I am focusing only on aerobic training - low effort.
On top of building a "base", this approach limit injuries by slowing down and let your joints catch back on your vascular system - which adapt faster.
I.e. without paying attention, you could outrun your own body during your training - and hurt yourself.

Makawao Forest, bread and butter and Barnaby showing the way

The low intensity training - at fixed heart rate - starts paying dividends after several month, and your pace catch up. Well, I am not there yet, and I am cruising around 10 min/mile on average, i.e. quite slower than my previous training pace.
Still I saw already a drop of 30s per mile since the beginning on the training.
This is promising.

Stuck in California for work, I still can run

This is still a bit tricky when you feel good and went to run faster, specially because of the cardiac drift during long run, where you end up barely running at 12 or 13 min/mile to keep your heart rate low. Presumably, on race day, you can run a bit higher in turns.
Hopefully. Because if not, that might be my worst marathon time ever :)

The other adjustment, directly inspired from the Chi Running method, is a huge focus on the running form. And I am clear with myself, if I am too tired to hold a good form, I would stop.
To keep a good form, you need a good body awareness, and of course, it is not obvious.
I do believe I am closer from the truth now - a good check is to record yourself - but to be certain I am gonna try to do Chi Running clinic in summer.
That would be an experience by itself.

This bike path cross a good chunk of LA.
Not pretty, but better than city streets.

So far, I am pleased with the results.
Previous injuries are kept in check, and I am back at around 2h15 for the long runs, with 3 or 4 weekly shorter runs. I gave myself 5 months to ramp up, a bit slower than the typical 16 weeks and that should help as well.
It really feels good to be training again.
To be on the trails again.
Changing those non tailing winches have been on my list for a long long time, but the cost always stopped me.
When West Marine did a first - one buy, one free - last year, I passed after a lot of hesitation.
Then I regretted it.
They just redid it, one week before us leaving.
Not a lot of time, but this is overall a relatively simple project. No electronics, no electrical.
The hard part as always, is to dismantle the old frozen nuts and bolts and get the damn old thing out of the boat.
A friend had the bad idea to come on a run with me and ask about running tips.
Looks like he survived, then I must not have bored him to death.
Almost.
Maybe he was just super resilient.
Anyway, at one point I realized there are a few books that can definitively get your started on the right foot.
This list is not extensive, of course, but, well, that's my list.

There is mostly two categories-
let's call it inspirational - read it as a story
running techniques and fitness

Inspirational (by order of preference)

Not exactly sure when I realized it could be actually doable, but I have dreamed for the South Pacific paradise islands as long as I can remember. I guess as an escape of the grey and rainy north of France.
Falling in love with the water 10 years ago in California, everything as built to this moment since then.
Learning to sail, buying a boat, buying another (better and smaller) boat, working on the boat, crossing half of the Pacific to Hawaii, improving the boat and sailing a bit here and there.

Seeing dock buddies dreaming large and undertaking crazy adventures ill-equipped just reminded me that we are running out of time and can't delay chasing our dreams.

This year, everything sort-of aligned - job, money, time, crew - for it to be possible.

Sort of because you are - down the line - creating your own opportunities.

We are sailing South.

And we will cross the equator at sea, a tipping point for all sailors since the early ages.

We will reach new landfalls. Paradise landfalls.

I have been lucky enough to get my perfect 1st mate this time again to avoid this to be even more adventurous. Not sure how long I will be able to avoid doing those passages solo - the boat is definitely equipped for at this point and my skill set slightly improved. The mental challenges are of a whole other level though.
Great. There is always a next step, a next challenge to drive us forward.

To be fair - once you reach the South Pacific atolls, the distances toward Asia are less impressive. You jump from place to place with not more than a week long passage.

This one gonna take us another good 21 or more days, weather permitting.
Crossing the doldrums gonna be an experience by itself.

Every sailor fear a storm at sea, but dead calm for days can drive you insane - they say.

Those past few months have been very busy, between preparing the boat, work and a bit of travel to support our little cheerleader.
The hard work on my body started to pay.
The counter intuitive imbalance work from Ben Greenfield - with a website that looks like a scam - did a little miracle, combined with a couple of successful chiropractor sessions and deep release work.
Pushing ankle exercise every other day instead of every day provided a good healing of my Achilles tendinitis - Maybe one year in the making !

Hips have been stable for a couple of weeks, Kiting - Foiling , Sir ! - is now permitted and some progress have been seen on this infamous flying carpet.

But the most pleasant of this past week were the three Makawao forest run I did with Barnaby, One hour 15min + runs that reconciled me with running, the forest and the mud.

Obviously, all the work I did with my other half (Christelle) is certainly not a stranger to this - so far - happy outcome.

I have high hope that continuing to focus on flexibility and strengthening gonna pay its dividends.
Or continue to pay off, it seems.

Better have to, because I signed for a marathon early October - plenty of time still, but still feel like a very very far reach at this point.

Let's challenge the "No Pain No Gain" rule.
I am the first to be guilty of believing that hard work pays, and high pain tolerance bring you want you to be.
I always thought that it was my dedication to my career that made the difference.
Truth to be told, it was always easy for me to spend long hours sitting in front a computer, programming.
I liked it, still do. I am enjoying the creative process of coding, the constant brain games and solving problems.
It is easy for me to go in flow while programming. Time flies, code lines accumulate.
Was it that hard to achieve success ? Maybe not.

Running my first marathon I had a fierce determination to never walk.
What ever it will take, never stopping. Failure was not an option, pain to be endured.
No pain, no gain.
Now, after I finally learned to stop and walk - hitting the wall on my second marathon pretty dramaticcaly made me believe that
all rules are meant to be broken - I am following the MAF method - which could be resumed by taking it easy.
You focus on running in zone 2 - Anaerobic zone - the easy zone. Believe it or not, you will improve and run faster and faster.
This is actually the golden rule of endurance.
As a side benefit this is more gentle on your joints and body and you reduce greatly the risk of injury - not a small advantage for me - still recovering from at least 4 different running injuries.
Running slow and easy.
Take it easy and bring the fun into everything you do.
Everything you do becomes a hobby.
Times flies, you are in flow, living the moment and improving.
The only way to improve is to spend the time. The body is an incredible adaption machine, and so adapt the brain as well.
In everything you do, find the fun, and offset it to be easy.
Raging or swearing makes it worst, every obstacle is a chance to improve.

I discovered lately how to apply this to boat work.
I always assumed I did not like working on the boat. Hard, long, expensive. Not gratifying.
It was a mean to an end, travelling, cruising, and only because I did not have enough money to pay someone to do that grueling work in my place.
Now, what if boat work was easy ?
Remove the time constraint, work on one project at a time, and allocate only few hours a day to it.
Don't make it a live or die situation. Buy the right tools and do any shortcut.
What if it was fun ?
Prepare it well, make yourself comfortable. Take the time, Do it well, Appreciate the results. Appreciate the creation, the problem solving, the handcrafting.
Be patient. Do it once, twice, third time. Listen to a podcast.
It is actually quite marvelous to see your work take shape.

Reward of a job well done.

What if fixing the boat was actually half of the fun ? And the cruising only the excuse ?
By embracing it, you go with the flow, you go in the zone.
Slow and easy. And you improve.
Live your life like a hobby, live in the zone.
20knots, 15ft feet of waves.

At that size of wave, my skills start to be a bit stretched :)

Over the year, my comfort zone kiting has been growing from the 8ft to 12ft.

But a building swell of that size, triple overhead face, going down the line ....

Looking at the wall behind me ... Reconsidering this bottom turn that would throw me up there...

Hiding inside a Coffee Bean to escape the Waikiki afternoon heat, I took some time to reflect on the last "disastrous" passage from Maui to Honolulu.

A series of mistakes and choice ended up costing me a new Fiddle block (150$), Sail repair (800$), and damage on the pulpit ($$$) and bottom paint ($$), and more important some bruises in my pride and slaps in my captain face.

To be clear, I am not pretentious when I sail. I am actually very aware of my lack of experience and any trip is always like an adventure. Which is why I like it so much, even if I do not sail that much.
But a day sail in between islands, I thought I got it.
The ocean was there to humble me.

I knew it was gonna be windy. Small craft advisory, a small low just went by the island few days before, clearing winds and strong trades (25+knots) on tap. Of course, 25 knots of predicted grib wind means 35+ in the channel.
Solo I would have certainly push back one week. But a friend was coming by plane, the ticket was taken... Anyway, that was a test for the boat.
Well, I guess I failed it.
In between Lanai and Molokai , we had gusts of 40+ knots. As a kitesurfer, those numbers never really scared me. You just rig smaller and tight your butt.
As a sailor, this is more than atypical winds and require a set of skills I do not have yet.

Typical - The furler jammed with a double reef in the jib.
We could have go with it until Honolulu, after all, it was very unlikely to be worst.

Sunset. We still had a genoa at that time.

I waited for the night to fall - no moon - (why not ?) to decide to try to solve this - just in case - (of what?).
Which means unfurl the full sail (Genoa 140) and put it down, on deck.
This is doable by going upwind or heave-to. Heaving-to with a 140 Genoa in that kind of wind, I was not feeling it. There was a bit of shade behind our double reefed main, and I thought I could bring it down on deck while we were running (Really?). Obviously, some maneuvers you do in 8 knots of wind do not work in 30+.
Of course, the sail went in the water, generated an immense amount of force and drag, teared along the furler, and went under the boat to tangle on the prop.
Dragging this huge mess under the boat, we slowed down to a mere 2 knots of boat speed and the motion became really uncomfortable.
Which made me sea sick - but not incapacitated, except while throwing up.
Losing control, we ended up jibbing involuntary a couple of time until the traveler gave up and the main slammed a last time.

In the morning, that what the sail looked like.

Fast forwarding, we eventually managed to bring most of the sail on board, jury rigging the main, disentangled the prop while drifting in front of the harbor and made it safely to the slip, 6 hours later than expected. Overall, no harm.
As they say, we kept "the people in the boat, and the water out of the boat".
Following this simple rule, nothing really critical can or should happen.
Still few lessons I learned the hard way.

If you can't fix it and don't have to, just go with it.
(At least, wait for the morning and daylight)
140 Genoa is too big of a sail for Hawaii - if just fine from San Diego where I got the boat.
(I am gonna save some money to buy a smaller one)
Go upwind, motoring if needed, to bring down the headsail.
(I got an idea how to disentangle the furler with the sail on, but that need to be proven)
40 knots is a lot of wind for a small sailboat
(even for a kite)
I need to up my game
(If I ever want to cross that pacific equator solo)
Positive lessons:

We stayed calm the whole way and never endangered ourselves.
(according to the fact that working on deck by night is dangerous by definition)
If I was on a passage, I think I could have fixed all that mess on board, alone - eventually
(After the wind calmed down, as it usually does)
If I was solo, I certainly would have avoided this mess by being more cautious.
(Need to learn to always sail as I was solo)
We kept control of the boat and never were on a lee-shore.
(Even if we were not going fast)
The boat and the rigging took it without grim.
(For an old grand pa that is almost as old as me)

Add the federal tax rebate of 7k$, and you get your new EV almost half price.

Well, hard to reconcile buying a new car and my minimalist aspirational goals.
At the moment, we own 3 cars, one motorbike and one sailboat. Hardly minimalist.

Hence, the truck will go, obviously, pretty soon. The bike is the next one. Sure, I like to ride her time to time, but it is just impractical to put any gear on it. We cannot function on one car anymore in our family. A bike is cool, but does not carry a paddle board or a dinghy. It will go as well.
1 car in, 2 vehicles out.

What I am actually buying is free of mind. less stuff. better quality, less maintenance, less hassle.
After all, the only thing that matters is time.
Spend your time wisely on what actually really matter to you.
Spend your money on stuff that bring value to your life. Deeply.

As the minimalists say :

"Love people, use things. The opposite never works."

As for the boat ? It is not a thing. It is a Her.

We have been extremely busy polishing the Yoga and fitness studio we have built under the house.
Not that we are done, but the last "large" paint job has just been finished today.
It is time to reflect a bit on the July project.

Centered around 4 axis - veganism, sobriety, cold treatment, breathing exercises - the direct goal was to try to heal my Achille tendinitis and plantar fasciitis, but it was an excuse to see if it was possible to detoxicate my body a bit more deeply.

Long story short, I had mixed results.

On the bright side, the veganism experiment was a success. To be fair, we were not too far from it, but milk by-products , butter, cheese, it was not an easy win. In any case, the whole family embraced it. obviously, at this point, this is a no-brainer. Good for your health, good for the animals, good for the environment, and easy - albeit expensive - as all "healthy" major retailers on the island propose the complete organic vegan replacements for anything comes to mind.

To complete the picture, we decided (finally) to go solar. With the sun exposure we have on Maui, the taxes deductions, it is criminal to not embrace the trend.

Really.

On the negative, I gave up on the cold shower treatment - I did not see the benefits really - I tend to take my shower at night and not in the morning, then the vigorous shake up it gave me was not well timed.

The Hoff breathing is an interesting beast. I have to reckon this is powerful. After two weeks I was able to hold my breath easily for more than 3 minutes and able to generate this heat wave / endorphin rush at will. But even with the obvious benefits, relaxing effects and whole body reset, I had hard time to find the 30 to 45 minutes needed to practice. I had too much things going on, between the body workouts and the studio and the real life job. A bit disappointing, but I made peace with myself and will revisit at a later time. There is definitively something.

As for the effective results of the detoxification and alkanization, well, it did not work that well. To the point that I stopped to run altogether and reorganized my workouts around those injuries. More to come on this subject. In a nutshell, from a tendonitis perspective, it was totally ineffective.

Anyway, there is no reasons at this point to change my new habits and go back to relatively unhealthy behaviors, and I can live with a few pounds less.
Vegan it is.
Sober it is.
Not really surprising - we were already **mostly** eating vegetarian - it is a good time to see how hard to stick to a strict vegan diet.
Obviously, for me, the hard part will be dairy.
Cheese, Butter, .. We are french after all.

Vegan athletes praise that healthy diet and the proteins are really a non-issue - if you do not pay attention to the derives of the fitness world.
To be fair I am using a Vegan Shake supplement for snacks, to make sure to get a bot of everything that is not immediately available in a vegan diet and would force me to think and organize myself.
Of course, part of going vegan is highly symbolic.
Help the world, help the animals, help yourself.

Help yourself.
Easier to digest, less fat, less acidity. Better healing.

Not sure what to expect on one month time frame when we had already a pretty balanced diet.
I guess lose another pound or so... Diary is so rich...
Time will tell.
